The Way of No Way - Martial Arts Academy
6400 Independence Ave, Los Angeles, California, 91367, United States
I've been training martial arts since 1996, in gyms all over the country, in TKD, BJJ, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Wushu, etc... I've taught/coached/competed/managed and seen all types of schools, and this place is one of a kind. The mixture of styles (They mix Kali, Silet, Jeet Kune Do, Jun Fan, Muay Thai, Jiu jitsu, Capoeira, and others), the pace of each class, the attitude of the students and humility of instructors; it's almost a miracle. Anyone interested in martial arts, anyone scared to take a class, anyone who's already a master, should try this place. Get a workout, learn something, make friends, guaranteed you will find something you like. That's my two cents.

KSK Martial Arts Academy
21139 Victory Blvd, Los Angeles, California, 91303, United States
I'm 44 yrs old and I've been taking classes at KSK. I wanted to wait a year before I wrote this review. I've done martial arts off and on for many years now, Wing Chun and Escrima, and I can honestly say this dojo is a great place to learn. Sensei Greg and the staff teach not only a traditional martial art but also its practical usage. Promotions are based on actual student knowledge and performance and every effort is made to make sure you are ready. The emphasis here is respect, technique, confidence, and camaraderie. I'm glad I found this place, this style of martial art and this team. Now I have my son going here and enjoy watching him flourish.
Pedro Soriano Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club
235 N Gaffey St, Los Angeles, California, 90731, United States
The best recommendation is "Go and check this place out for yourself!", it worked well for me. I really got a grasp of what this martial art business is all about.
It has shown me ways my body can cope with stress (physical and mental stress), the strength that I can use effectively with precision, the endurance I am capable of, my stamina has increased. It is an all body and mind work out!!
I have been here for a few months now and I can not get enough of the training, luckily although I am busy with my work schedule I still manage to go practice (psbjj has a good schedule for me).
Pedro has tons of experience and although I just meet the teacher here, the way he talks and explains the art of brazilian jiu-jitsu shows his training and understanding of it. His method of teaching to me seems like he wants us to be the best person we all can be (training the mind and not just your body).
If anyone reading this is gonna take this seriously heed my two statements: Follow directions literally (the teacher makes things real real simplistic) and also do not be intimidated by the teacher (Pedro is a strong minded, strong willed individual who takes teaching seriously- he has tough love way of teaching because it is important to learn how to defend ourselves and anyone who we love- after training Pedro is a funny warm guy whos got love and respect for those who are kind as well)

If you have ever practiced traditional martial arts then you will know the difficulty of finding a good school. This is a good school. Shihan Patrick Fard has the background necessary to teach to an exceptionally high level of aptitude, if the student is willing. The other black belts are also quite skilled and help provide sufficient bandwidth that none seem to be overtaxed. I have found the teaching to be very satisfactory (although the topic is, as is to be expected, challenging).
On the whole, I would say that the environment is demanding but patient, and those who apply themselves will reap good rewards. I have been going for around 9 months at this point and I have yet to regret a single day.
If this is going to be your sole athletic outlet I highly recommend attending CrossFit sessions (onsite) to help supplement your strength and conditioning. It will definitely improve what you are able to get out of Karate.
