Great school with an excellent kid's program and a solid adult program with a range of ages, skill-levels and body types. Professor Greg Lara is a very attentive and technical instructor, and the academy has an inviting & family-friendly atmosphere.

The class doesn't cost too much if you get a discount, to be fair. But the stuff kids can learn is limited. The instructor gave tests once every 4-6 months and each time kids get a trophy and certificate. But I saw most kids doing the same routines at about the same skill level one test after another. At least my son stopped showing obvious progress after the first 3 months. The tests seemed just a means of keeping kids interested and we had to pay for the trophy and etc. After more than a year, my son wanted to quit. Here comes the worst part. Last tuition payment we made was for one full year (at a discount) at the beginning of the year. At first, the owners refused to refund us the rest of money. We had to contact them several times and after a couple of weeks, they reluctantly agreed to do that but with a catch. We had to pay not only regular tuition (without discount) for past classes, but also an extra 35% of the unused balance. In our case, this 35% means over $200! How many small kids can promise to learn something for a year and actually follow through? My son was only six and a half. This kind of cancellation policy is almost like a rip-off, not to say the hassle to get refund in the first place! I wouldn't recommend this wushu school to anyone.

Bing Yang Martial Arts Academy
1430 Tully Rd #Suite 406, San Jose, California, 95122, United States
We compete and perform at many places, especially the school team. We won trophies and medals through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. We learn flips, stunts, forms from empty hands to weapons. Teacher Bing takes us serious but sometimes not, he makes learning very fun for kids all ages to enjoy. Stretching maybe be a little painful sometimes but you won't regret it after the results, there are limits to stretching and he does not take it too far. I have been here for more than 2 years, along with my fellow classmates and we enjoy taking class here. I'm also in the school team. For your information, school team is for experienced students only with a minimum belt level. If you're not in the school team it doesn't mean you can't participate in the performances and competitions, whenever theres an upcoming event teacher Bing will announce it. But talk to teacher Bing for more information about it. I hope my review and opinion about this school will help you decide if you should join this school.
