Train your upper managment better! They are sexist, racist and homophobic. Somewhat of a boys club. Here is the story; I gave my professional two weeks notice because this job was not a good fit for me at the time. Long story short - the director of rehab flipped out on me, calling my cell a number of times (because I didn’t pick up he proceeded to call again and again). I finally picked up because I was with a patient and he proceeded to call me unprofessional and “how dare I do this to them” and “do I really want to burn bridges!?” Never in my life have I been talked to by a boss in this way. I was shocked and hurt by his words. It was insane that he thought it was ok to speak to his employer like this. We are in healthcare - aren’t you suppose to be empathetic and understanding? The job was killing me and I was overworked and over stressed. I then told my direct supervisor and she mentioned that he gets like that sometimes and that I should express my concern to Human Resourses. I did and guess what - Human Resources said “I was probably overreacting” and must have been “overly sensitive to that persons comments.” Mind you the HR person that I was dealing with was also a man. Sadly, I had no proof and it was my word against theirs. I felt like I had been asaulted and I had to suck it up and deal with it. I felt like quitting on the spot! But my patients kept me going. I even asked my direct supervisor - Do you let this person speak to you this way? She said he doesn’t mean it and its just who he is. That lady better wake up - this is 2017 and I don’t care who you are - you do not speak to anyone like that. I suggest if you decide to work here or do business with this company make sure you don’t get on upper managments bad side and if you do record every conversation - because HR will not have your back! Some of upper managment is truly homophobic and sexist! I can’t believe people like this get into high positions like this. They need additional training on how function in such high potions. If I could give this company ZERO stars I would. First, from the start it looked as if the company was legit. Nurse Linda came out and did a plan of care and assessment. After we accepted the plan of care Shuwanda in scheduling made sure we had a home care health aid on the days we requested. Now the nightmare.... We were assigned to Tanya George, upon arrival the first impression was acceptable to us. She came in and did what was asked and informed me that she would be taking the initiative to do more. She got my cousin cleaned up and dressed which was great. We paid for 2 hours of service so trying to find more work We suggested that she change the linen and re make the bed. This was all completed HOWEVER, my cousin had a lot of clutter on her bed along with this clutter was a TD Bank envelop with $200 in it that mysteriously came up missing. I must emphasize that no one physically seen Mrs George take any money from the residence. What is for 100% certainty the envelop was in fact on the bed prior to Mrs Tanya George changing the linen. I personally looked in every place imaginable trying to find the envelop, to no avail. After and only after I looked and couldn't find the money I called and informed Shuwanda who works in the office in Woodbury. I let her know all the details of our experience with emphasis on us not seeing any crime committed. After this phone call I get a phone call from Shuwanda stating that the aid Tanya George will no longer be able to care for my family's needs due to traffic issues getting to the house. Shuwanda informed me there will be another aid coming in her place. Nightmare #2 When we did the plan of care with Nurse Linda who apparently is in charge of all the aids, she never mentioned 1 time about us being responsible to have latex gloves available for the aids. NEVER. Fast forward to today June 19th, an aid arrives with NO gloves. (I digress, it's like paying someone to come and now your lawn and they show up with no lawn mower ) My cousin who was home at the time told her he was going to the store to purchase the gloves, as soon as he leaves the aid leaves not telling my sickly family member any thing. Soon as I find out I call and speak with Shuwanda and she tells me we are responsible for the gloves and the aid told her it was too cluttered in the room for her to work which is a LIE. I would STRONGLY encourage you to avoid this company like the plague. The lack of professionalism is egregious. I would not trust these people with a dog, let alone a human being in need of care. Totally disgusted!
